Chatur Gakaara Vichara Yajnam and Sagar - Ganga Darsan is a major programme that has been organized by the School of Bhagavad Gita and conducted by Swami Sandeepananda Giri from the 9th of October 2008 to the 4 th of January 2009. This state-wide first time event has been a comprehensive programme of talks and cultural, river and environment protection campaigns of 4 days each, starting from the northernmost district of Kasargod and extending to venues covering all the 14 district headquarters of Kerala.
The inauguration took place at Kanjangad/ Kasargode on the 9th of October 2008 at the Vyaapara Bhavan. Discourses were held from 6 Pm to 8 PM everyday at the respective venues. Till the concluding session at Trivandrum on the 13 th of December 2008, discourses and other related programmes took place every single day, without break. A cross section the general public and also several personalities from the socio-cultural-political sectors took part in the programmes which has been very well received.
Explaining the importance of the 4 ‘ga's - Gita, Ganga, Govinda and Gayatri, ChaturGakaara Vichara Yajnam is an attempt by the School of Bhagavad Gita to address the issues of contemporary relevance, drawing upon the spiritual and cultural heritage of our country and creating awareness about these values in a true and broadminded manner.
Nadi (River)Darsanam
The morning of the third day of each session was devoted to Nadi Darsanam, when Swamiji visited the main river of the respective district. In the course of these visits Swamiji met local residents and interacted with environmentalists to study the situation. As a result Swamiji has drawn up a clear picture of the state of affairs in this area. Swamiji advised the people and the governing bodies to adopt one river at least as the River of the District and look after its conservation.
Spiritual Book Fair
A Spiritual Book Fair by M/s. Mathrubhumi was held at all the venues and showcased a wide range of publications on the subject. This was another highlight of the Chatur Gakaara Vichara Yajnam and attracted a lot of book lovers.

Valedictory Session
The concluding session of the Chatur Gakaara Vichara Yajnam took place from the 9 th to the 13th of December 2008 at Vyloppilli Samskriti Bhavan in Thiruvananthapuram. The Inauguration was by Sri. K. JayaKumar IAS, Addl. Chief Secretary, Govt of Kerala. The day being observed as Gita Jayanthi and to mark the event, SOBG brought out a publication - the Malayalam translation of Annie Besant's Bhagavad Gita. Padma Vibhushan Sri Adoor Gopalakrishnan released the book by handing over the copy to Sri. C.P. Nair, former Chief Secretary. Smt. Daksha Sheth spoke on the occasion, followed by Swami Sandeepananda Giri's opening discourse.
In the course of the 4 days, a wide representation of the intelligentsia as well as the general public took part. Special guests who spoke on each day included Sri Kanai Kunhiraman, Sri. Krishnamoorthy, Director ICCR and Prof. Sulochana Nair. Dr. G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO and the entire CHANDAYAAN team that was responsible for elevating India 's glory to the skies were felicitated by SOBG on the 11 th of December.
The Valedictory Function of the Chatur Gakaara Vichara Yajnam was inaugurated by senior national leader, Sri. K.Karunakaran. The event was blessed by the presence of revered figures in the spiritual, literary and social milieu. Prof O.N.V. Kurup delivered the Key note address and Prof. G. Balakrishnan Nair, the speech of benediction. Sri, K.K. Sreedharan Nair, Editor, Mathrubhumi, Smt. Diane Cunningham of Scotland , Sri. Ashok Kumar, Addl. DRM, Railways, Sri.C.P. Padma Kumar and Sri.
