The School of Bhagavad Gita formally opened its USA center on the 5th of April 2008. The inauguration of the center which has its registered office in Dallas, Texas, took place at the Plano Baha’i Center at a well-attended function. Dr. Rodney Moag- a person of many parts- Dean of the Dept of Asian studies, University of Texas, linguist, scholar and popular singer, graced the function as the Chief Guest and lit the ceremonial lamp to mark the opening.

The programme began with the playing of the national anthems of both the USA and India, symbolizing mutual respect, better understanding and cooperation between the two cultures. In the inaugural address, Dr. Moag, who is well versed in Malayalam and acquainted with the Indian culture, was all praise for the part played by Malayalam - the language and the people - in enriching the legacy of India. He lauded the efforts of the School of Bhagavad Gita in this direction and its initiatives in preserving and promoting the cultural heritage of India, internationally.
Swami Sandeepananda Giri handed over a copy of the Bhagavad Gita in Malayalam Braille, a milestone publication of the SOBG to Dr. Moag. It was a gratifying moment indeed, when Dr. Moag, who is visually impaired, could read the Gita in Malayalam Braille. Swamiji, in his speech of benediction, threw light on the universality of the Gita and the role it played in moulding the life and works of great men all over the world.
In connection with the inauguration in the USA, a series of discourses by Swami Sandeepananda Giri has been arranged in Houston, Dallas, Portland, Chicago and New York.
