Swami Sandeepananda Giri’s visit to the UK
and the satsangs and discourses organized
by the School of Bhagavad Gita were received
with whole-hearted enthusiasm from the Malayali
community living in the UK. For many, it
provided the opportunity to listen to Swamiji’s
discourses directly and the fact that the
lectures were delivered in Malayalam held
special appeal. For people who were familiar
with Swamiji through the TV programmes and
CDs, it offered the rare privilege of meeting
him in person.

The
satsang held in Newcastle was the forum
for the people from the Northern part of
the UK. During his sojourn in those parts
and at Oxford, Swamiji exchanged views with
people from all walks of life including
scholars, artistes and religious heads.
Swamiji spoke on the “Applicability of the
Bhagavad Gita in modern society” to a rapt
and receptive audience at the meeting organized
by the School of Bhagavad Gita (UK) in Langley.
The concept and activities of the School
of Bhagavad Gita was introduced to the audience
through an audio-visual presentation. The
highlight of the meeting was an interactive
session with Swamiji. Many evinced a keen
interest to involve themselves in the projects
of the School, especially the programmes
for the younger generation. Consequently
special projects related to appreciation
of Indian heritage and also those that tap
the youth potential are being devised.
In the earlier part of the tour, Swami Sandeepananda Giri inaugurated the charity projects
of the Karunya Charitable Trust in London,
U.K. In the function held at the Fairfield
Hall, Croydon, Swamiji addressed a cross-section
of the Keralite community. They were especially
appreciative of Swamiji's discourses on
TV, like the Gita Jnana Yajnam on Doordarshan,
and VCDs, through which he is reaching out
to people all over the world to spread the
universal message and eternal values contained
in the Bhagavad Gita.
